The kind of thinking that "white" is good and "black" is bad needs to be cleared from the minds of ourselves, our children and indeed future generations. As long as we still have this inferiority complex, Africa shall still be in the yoke of the West!

Keep on blogging!Bennett Kankuzihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16521799913916934221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6900460698887397063.post-5353340876259526072007-08-15T21:34:00.000+01:002007-08-15T21:34:00.000+01:00A Ndhlovu,I wish to make known my reflections on y...A Ndhlovu,

I wish to make known my reflections on your line about the likes of Kenneth Kaunda, Kwame Nkrumah, and the rest of the founding fathers of Africa.

You see, the founding fathers of Africa possessed more than just patrotism; they were sold out to the ideals of independent rule and self-governance. They believed whole-heartedly that an African was best placed to be one, and should not trade his place for anything.

I believe these galant heroes had had what I like to call a moment of self-discovery, where one sees himself as an African that he or she is, entirely and unreservedly accepts the fact, celebrates it, and cherishes it. It is no wonder that Kwame Nkrumah proposed the formation of the United States of Africa, or the concept of it.

Our founding fathers believed that our borders are emblems of falsehoods, and standing monuments of the European supplanters' agenda to divide and rule. Nkrumah and company believed that if Africa retained its original frame of oneness, she would then tap her own natural resources and utilize its own human resources. If we would follow the blueprint of the EU, for example, Africa would be well on her way to becoming the world's biggest economy, competing favorably with the US, China, the EU and India.

The real source of Afican problems, Mr. Ndhlovu, are beyond what meets the eye today. Most mental and psychological damage in an African's life has a history--a long, winding history. Most of this history is so scarred that many Zambians and Africans at large wish not to relate to it at all. The effects of colonialism, even in the light of the fact that we have been independent for over 40 years, are still clear in the way that our people think and relate with one another.

We may have won our political independence, but we are yet to salvage our mental freedoms!

The question, really, is: how is it possible for a people to plan for their future properly, and in the right context of who they are, if they first refute and renounce their own roots and identity?

For more, check my spot at http://africapower.blogspot.com/

Natasha!Victor Mulenga Chandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04104770344071712715noreply@blogger.com
